Connect ChatGPT to Typenode

Connect Typenode as a custom MCP server in ChatGPT on the web.

Connect the Typenode MCP connector to ChatGPT to build, run and manage workflows in your workspace. These steps use ChatGPT on the web. You need a Typenode account, access to a workspace that isn't view-only, and permission to add custom MCP servers in ChatGPT.

Add the MCP connector

  1. Open ChatGPT Plugins.

  2. Click +, then Add custom MCP server.

  3. Name it Typenode and enter this server URL:

    https://mcp.typenode.ai/mcp
  4. Choose OAuth for authentication, review the warning and click Create as a plugin.

  5. On the Typenode page that opens, sign in if asked. Confirm that you started the connection, review the workspace and agent name, then click Allow.

  6. Open the resulting entry in your personal plugins and install it with +.

ChatGPT calls this custom connection a plugin. It connects to Typenode's MCP tools; it doesn't install Typenode's packaged Plugin with Built-in Skills.

ChatGPT acts as you in the workspace you approve, with no more access than you have. Agent access explains what you approve.

Check the connection

Start a new Work chat. Type @ in the prompt box and select Typenode, then ask:

Use Typenode MCP now. Call start, then briefly tell me what Typenode can help me do and list the Typenode tools available to you. Do not make changes.

You should get an overview of what Typenode can help you do and the tools available to your agent.

Common problems

You can't add a custom MCP server

Your ChatGPT workspace may restrict custom MCP servers. Ask its administrator to allow them. OpenAI's custom MCP instructions describe the current setup and workspace restrictions.

ChatGPT doesn't use Typenode

Check that the custom connection is installed, then select it with @ in a new Work chat.

ChatGPT asks you to connect again

Follow Reconnecting, then return to ChatGPT and try again.
