# Google Analytics

Check the custom OAuth app, GA4 APIs, reporting scope and property access required for Google Analytics reporting.

Last updated: 2026-10-23

The current Google Analytics 4 reporting Template requires a custom Google OAuth app. Its reporting
scope is not supported by Typenode's managed Google app. Your Google account also needs access to
the intended GA4 property.

For shared Google authentication, custom app setup and registration reuse, see the
[Google overview](/integrations/providers/google#using-your-own-google-app).

## OAuth scope

The current GA4 reporting Template requires:

```text
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/analytics.readonly
```

## Required APIs

The custom app's project needs these APIs for the current reporting and discovery task:

| Required API | Service identifier | Purpose |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Google Analytics Data API | `analyticsdata.googleapis.com` | Read GA4 reports |
| Google Analytics Admin API | `analyticsadmin.googleapis.com` | Discover accounts and properties |

Google's [reporting reference](https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/reporting/data/v1/rest/v1beta/properties/runReport)
and [account discovery reference](https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/config/admin/v1/rest/v1beta/accountSummaries/list)
state their authorization requirements.

## Account and property access

The connected Google account must have access to the intended GA4 property. Use its GA4 property
ID, not a measurement ID or Universal Analytics ID. A custom registration does not bypass those
access requirements.
