# Connect Codex to Typenode

Add Typenode's MCP tools to Codex using the command line.

Connect the Typenode MCP connector to Codex to build, run and manage workflows in your workspace.
You need the Codex CLI installed, a Typenode account and access to a workspace that isn't view-only.

## Add the MCP connector

1. Run this in your terminal:

   ```shell
   codex mcp add typenode --url https://mcp.typenode.ai/mcp
   ```

2. Complete the sign-in flow that Codex opens. On the Typenode page, sign in if asked. Confirm
   that you started the connection, review the workspace and agent name, then click **Allow**.

Codex acts as you in the workspace you approve, with no more access than you have.
[Agent access](/agents/access#the-consent-screen) explains what you approve.

## Check the connection

Start a new Codex session. Run `/mcp` to check that Typenode is available, then ask:

```text
Use Typenode MCP now. Call start, then briefly tell me what Typenode can help me do and list the Typenode tools available to you. Do not make changes.
```

You should get an overview of what Typenode can help you do and the tools available to your agent.

## Common problems

### Codex hasn't opened a sign-in page

Run `codex mcp login typenode` and complete the approval in your browser.

### Typenode doesn't appear in the session

Run `codex mcp list` to check that it is configured, then start a new session. OpenAI's
[MCP documentation](https://learn.chatgpt.com/docs/extend/mcp?surface=cli) explains Codex configuration.

### Codex asks you to connect again

Run `codex mcp login typenode`. [Reconnecting](/agents/access#reconnecting) explains how to reuse
an existing agent.
